Mr. Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir
District Fisheries Officer, Chandpur
Mr. Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir assumed the position of District Fisheries Officer at the District Fisheries Office, Chandpur, on 16 May 2025. Prior to this, he served in the same capacity in Netrokona district.
Mr. Kabir is a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Fisheries) Cadre. He joined the Department of Fisheries as a Microbiologist in 2005 through the 24th BCS Examination (Fisheries). Over the course of his extensive career, he has successfully and efficiently served in various important roles, including Microbiologist, Quarantine Officer, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Assistant Director, Senior Assistant Director, and District Fisheries Officer.
He was born on 28 July 1974 into a respected Muslim family in Nagarchara village of Sakhua Union under Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh district. Mr. Kabir completed his SSC in 1990 from Akhrail High School and HSC in 1992 from the renowned Kabi Nazrul Government College. He obtained his BSc (Honours) degree in Fisheries from the Faculty of Fisheries, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in 1999, followed by an MS degree in Fisheries Management from the same institution in 2001.
In the course of his public service, Mr. Kabir has participated in several official study tours and training programs abroad, including in Thailand, Spain, and Denmark. He has also represented Bangladesh in various international conferences and workshops. He is a life member of the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh and a member of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni Association. In his personal life, Mr. Kabir is married and a proud father of one daughter and two sons.
